At 9:30pm last night, Brush 1/UTV1 (B Shift) A-1 Ambulance, Life Flight Network, and Ruby Valley Search & Rescue were called to Madison County south of Melrose for an injured hunter.
The injured person was unable to make their way down the mountain. Lifeflight was able to locate the patient and guide ground crews into the area and then found a landing zone.
UTV 1 was utilized to transport the patient to the landing zone and the patient was transported by helicopter to the hospital.
The incident was an example of how extremely important it is to know the area you will be recreating in, somebody who knows where you are going to be and most importantly a phone or GPS so you can call for help with your coordinates.
