DILLON, MT – The Dillon Volunteer Fire Department and the Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a large fire on Cattle Drive Lane on Friday evening after residents noticed the flames. Initial concerns raised whether it was a house on fire or a burn pile that had gotten out of control.
Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters discovered a significant burn pile. While the residents had obtained a burn permit for the fire, it was found that the permit had expired.
Firefighters remained on-site to extinguish the burn pile and monitor the situation to ensure that the fire did not spread. The quick response from the fire department helped prevent any potential hazards to nearby properties in the area.
As a reminder, officials advise residents to ensure that all necessary permits are up to date when conducting burning activities to ensure safety and compliance with local regulations.
